Melisa Önel was born in Izmir in 1980. A filmmaker and a photographer, Önel is a member of the photographers’ initiative RecCollective. Her work has been exhibited in many international exhibitions. Her first short film Omega Fox (2007) was selected to the Hisar Short Film Selection, a collection of the ten best short films of the year in Turkey. Her medium-length documentary Me and Nuri Bala (2009) received the Best First Documentary award at the 46th Antalya Film Festival. Seaburners is her first feature film.

In 2015 he started to work at Ay Yapım as an executive producer where he produced 4 hit TV series. In 2023, he became a managing partner in FARO.

Synopsis
A woman discovers a group of refugees who are about to cross the Black Sea. As she encounters a young refugee girl, her relationship with her lover unravels. They can no longer keep their secrets.
