Born in 1975 in Istanbul, He studied Film-TV department of Marmara University and graduated from Film&Television Master’s program in Istanbul Bilgi University. He started to get involved with experimental cinema and video-art making in his university years. His works in this field were screened in many national and international festivals and exhibitions. He complicated his first feature film Civilian in 2014. Ali’s Nature supported by Turkish Ministry of Culture fund.

After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at the Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, Canol Balkaya continued his education at the Dutch Royal Academy, and completed his Master’s studies in Film at the New York Institute of Technology’s Faculty of Communication. He worked in many films as a director, producer and coordinator, and opened four personal exhibitions in Ankara, İstanbul and The Hague. Balkaya produced the exhibition VİTRİN for the Ankara Film Festival. He published first novel Kompartman (Compartment) in 2019.

Synopsis
Ali is the last representative of the tradition in which the fish is regarded highly sacred, and when they die, they are buried with prayers in a special cemetery allocated for them. Ali and his wife Meryem has only one problem, not being able to have a child. Kazım, another villager who has been treasure hunting during the nights disturbs everyone. One night Kazım and dream friend Musa ruin the fish cemetery in their search for treasure.
