She directed documentaries such as Vendetta Song, Global Hayat, and Yoğun Bakım. Her first feature, Ayla: Daughter of War, was followed by Kovan (The Hive), which premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival. Kaftan’s work focuses on women’s stories, memory, migration and social justice.

Synopsis

Two young women are joined by their shared experience of being abused by their fathers. Their unexpected meeting forms a strong bond which gives them both the strength to take on their abusers-fathers in court and to help other young women free themselves of shame of being abused.
